COPPER KETTLE -- written by: Albert Frank Beddoe

This is not the same key and these are not the identical chords used by Mr. Dylan on his recording but they
work and the key can be changed to suit your voice. This is an old folk song and I've added the chords the way
I remember first hearing it. It may well have been Joan Baez where I heard it or even somewhere else. I do
apologize for any misunderstanding caused by me in using Bob Dylan as the artist and I have been unable to
change that in the heading.

VERSE 1:

C G C
Get you a copper kettle,

C G C
Get you a copper coil,
E Am
Fill it with new-made corn mash
    Dm G
And never more you'll toil.

CHORUS:
       Am Em
As you lay there by the juniper
Am C E
while the moon is bright,
Am G
Watch them jugs a-filling
Am Em Am
In the pale moonlight.

VERSE 2:

C G C
Build you a fire with hickory,
C G C
Hickory, ash and oak,
E Am
Don't use no green or rotten wood
        Dm G
They'll get you by the smoke.

CHORUS:
       Am Em
As you lay there by the juniper
Am C E
while the moon is bright,
Am G
Watch them jugs a-filling
Am Em Am
In the pale moonlight.

VERSE 3:
C G C
My daddy, he made whiskey
C G C
My grand-daddy, he did too.
E Am
We ain't paid no whiskey tax
      Dm G
Since seventeen ninety-two.

CHORUS:
       Am Em
As you lay there by the juniper
Am C E
while the moon is bright,
Am G
Watch them jugs a-filling
Am Em Am
In the pale moonlight.
