Kia ora everyone!
My name is Te Awanui Reeder, but you probably know me as AWA.
Here's the industry bio thingee, but to be honest, what i'm most proudest of are my children Esme and Waiora.
I'm an award winning presenter and broadcaster. I hosted NZ on Air’s flagship syndicated radio show “Te Puutake”for 10 years, as well as LIPS (local music show) and Aotearoa Social Club on Māori Television. I produced and hosted New Zealand’s biggest syndicated music show “Sweet Sounz” but I had to let that go when I became a Senior Advisor for the government. I own Soulnote Agency (entertainment booking), own a rental property and i'm producing an anime series with a couple of good friends.
I'm passionate about education and love learning. I have a Masters of Business (Management) from the Auckland University of Technology and i'm also completing a Bachelor of Arts in Te Reo Māori (Māori language) and Gagana Sāmoa (Sāmoan language) at Victoria University (Wellington). I always aim to study at least one paper a year, part time.
Some of you will know me as a principal songwriter for the Polynesian super group Nesian Mystik, we still hold the record for most top 10 songs in New Zealand history, which i'm really proud of. While some of you will know me as AWA (which is my nickname and means "river" in Māori). However you know me, thank you for vibing with me and my music.
